July and the 2014 Fall Plan

June 30th - July 6th:  Firecracker 4 Miler (Saratoga, NY)

Monday: 5 mile easy (37:12) Knee/shin pain & some bruising (possibly from the Bachelor party)
Tuesday: Easy
Wednesday: Easy
Thursday: Easy
Friday: Race - Firecracker 4 miler (20:13) - Solid through 2 miles, but shin was too much to bare and made it safely to the finish line. Hobbled back to my stuff and iced.
Saturday: Off
Sunday: Red Sox game in Boston.

Started to fall off the pack just before 2 miles. Through 2 in 9:40+.

 I'm sure I was over-striding.

July 7th - July 13th: Almost no miles

Monday: Off
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: 8 miles @ 5am with my sister Sarah and her friend. Shin didn't feel any better.
Friday: Off
Saturday: Sarah's wedding!
Sunday: Off 

TV crapped out (thunderstorm and no surge protector). Substitution for now.

June 14th - July 20th: Trotting around

Monday: Vacation in Cape Cod
Tuesday: Vacation in Cape Cod
Wednesday: Vacation in Cape Cod (travel back to NY)
Thursday: 20 minutes on grass field
Friday: 30 minutes on grass field
Saturday: 40 minutes on grass field and pavement
Sunday: 10 miles

Sat in the freezer for 20 minutes.

July 21st - July 27th: Some quality miles before the start of marathon training

Monday: Easy miles (shin on the upswing and minimal pain)
Tuesday: Easy miles (shin on the upswing and minimal pain)
Wednesday: Easy miles (shin on the upswing and minimal pain)
Thursday: 9 miles total (7 miles with my buddy (Pete), track meet and paced Renee through 5:15 mile. Sprinted a 58 second 400).
Friday: 8.5 miles (56:59)
Saturday: 8+ miles (57:34) with Gavs in the morning. Work function at the Saratoga horse track
Sunday: 12+ miles (84:49) with some Fleet Feet people on the Zim Smith bike trail.

With the shin acting up and a couple weeks off, I decided to switch up the fall marathon schedule.

The race schedule is roughly below (might add a few):
  • Keene State Alumni Race 5K (Keene, NH)
  • Palio Half Marathon (Saratoga Springs, NY)
  • Hartford Half Marathon (Hartford, CT)
  • Stockade-athon 15K (Schenectady, NY)
  • Manchester Road Race 4.748 mile (Manchester, CT)
  • California International Marathon (Sacramento, CA)

The Month of June (Mount Washington RR)

June 2nd - June 8th: 40 miles

Monday: Day off. Out to Albany for a buddy's birthday.
Tuesday: 8 miles (56:37)
Wednesday:10 miles (65:33)
Thursday: 10x400 (69, 71, 69, 69, 70, 72, 69, 69, 72, 70) 8 miles on the day. Felt okay.

Friday: Off (Got to hold Madison for the 1st time!)

Saturday: 4.5 miles
Sunday: Great Futures 5K 16:04 (9 miles on the day)

June 9th - June 15th: 65 miles

Monday: 7 miles
Tuesday:4 miles
Wednesday: 10 miles on the day
Thursday: 8 miles (Route 50 mile: 4:29)
Friday: 5 miles (36:15) and 22 Jump Street
Saturday: 10 miles on the day
Sunday: 15 miles (1:39:34) with Renee (2x15 minutes @ 6:00 pace)


So peaceful.

June 16th - June 22nd:  Easy week of miles

Monday: Random amount of miles
Tuesday: 6x400 and 6x200 (70, 70, 70, 69, 68, 66, 33, 32, 32, 32, 33, 32)
Wednesday: 7+ miles
Thursday: 5 miles
Friday: 4 miles with DoubleJ from his house
Saturday: Mount Washington Road Race (68:29) Quality race, but not as prepared as last year. Still an epic race to run and an overall great weekend with friends.
Sunday: 17 miles on all trails. 2:16:09 long run with DoubleJ and Tilton in NH!

Views are ridiculous, but short lived.

Socked in.

 50 degrees at the base. 25 degrees at the summit.

  Calves on fire, but made it to the finish.

June 23rd - June 29th: Recovery Week

 Burger for dinner.

Another burger with a beer.
Monday: Easy miles
Tuesday: Easy miles
Wednesday: Easy miles
Thursday: Easy miles
Friday: Travel to upstate Maine. OFF
Saturday: White Water Rafting - epic. Bachelor party weekend for my future brother in law.
Sunday: Travel back to NY. 10 hours in the car. Ughh, but worth it.

 Saved the bachelor. Sister's future husband.
