Monday With Derrick

April 30th: 5am wakeup. Up at 5:10am. Breakfast consisted of Frosted Flakes, OJ, and a multivitamin. I know. Exciting and out of the ordinary. Leftover dinner from Friday night. Work 6am-2:45pm. I forgot to heat up my lunch, but it worked out for the best. Cold pasta, chicken, mozzarella cheese, tomato, and avocado. Yogurt and fresh cut strawberries. Clif bar. Ritz crackers. Gatorade. Work went by quick. No one did anything wrong until the last 20 minutes of the shift. Sitting on the top rail of the lift and resting his feet on the midrail of the lift. A big no-no. Made the call to the safety rep and the company took care of it.

Home to just relax. Texted Derrick and a planned run at 5:15pm. 9.5+ miles (66:31). Honest clip today. Felt good. Back to stretch, foam roll, ice and watch tv. Protein shake. Chicken on salad for dinner. Tomato, cucumber, grated cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and peppercorn ranch dressing. More television. Shower and officially finished my taxes. Bed at a decent hour.

An uneventful Monday, but it's over.

Double It Up!

April 29th: 8:30am wakeup. Rolled around in bed while Kimber was fast asleep. Out of bed at 9:15 to sit on the couch. Kimber finally erupted out of bed. Groggy and not excited to be awake :O Relaxed on the couch and snacked on some Ritz crackers, Nutella and Frosted Flakes.

Out the door for a easy 4 mile run at 11am. No time. Easy with Kimber. Beautiful out for only being 50 degrees. Back to eventually prepare breakfast. Omelettes with spinach, mushrooms, onions and cheese. Delicious. We were starving by the time they were ready. Chowed down and ate my 4 egg omelette with twice the amount of veggies as Kimber's 2 egg omelette in about half the time. That's because I'm a beast when I eat (aka I basically inhale my food). Relaxed and cuddled on the couch for a while. Kimber napped for a bit. I received a call from Goupil letting me know they were showing the apartment in 5 minutes (@ about 3:15pm). Slipped on some shoes and out the door to hit up the Target. I grabbed a thing of undershirts, adhesive bandage, a couple boxes of white chocolate macadamia nut Clif bars (on sale), and a Twix bar while I was in line. Temptation got the best of me. It didn't take much.

Kimber headed out at 5ish and I was out for a second run (long run) at 5:40pm. Mapped out a 15 mile route. A modified 11 mile loop that we usually run. Worked out great. Mostly secluded roads except for a mile of Grooms Road. Other than that, I passed by grass fields and an apple orchard. Beautiful run and prime weather. Ended up cruising right out the gate. Clipping off 6:45's for the first 5 miles. Through 8 miles in 53 and change. Next 5 at 6:00's. Last 2 miles in 11:02. Last mile in 5:25. Route was 15 miles in 1:34:20. 6:17 pace. Rocked the Kinvara 2's. Most likely will grab another pair of em, if not two. 19 miles on the day. 80 miles for the week.

Back to stretch, foam roll, protein shake, and icing the legs. Leftovers from Ravenwood's. Sweet potato fries and the spicy chicken special with garlic, red peppers, onions, and Alfredo sauce. Showered and bed before 10pm. Goupil home at 10ish and some pillow talk to catch up on the weekend before dozing off.

Spice Up Your Life

April 28th: 7am wakeup. Fell back asleep until 8ish. I was gonna go for a morning run, but laid in bed with Kimber because I don't get to sleep in very often. "Made" breakfast with Kimber. Bowl of Frosted Flakes with strawberries and bananas on the side with a tall glass of OJ. Kimber went with a slightly healthier choice by having Wheaties with bananas and strawberries on top with a watered down glass of OJ. Goupil shot me a call to let me know the complex wanted to show our apartment at some point during the day. We cleaned up and made the apartment look as if one person was living there. The biggest thing was folding up the futon and removing my toothbrush/toothpaste from the bathroom.

Out the door at 1:30pm to hit up TJ Maxx/Homegoods combo for some shopping. Goupil called me about 10 minutes later that they were showing the apartment in 5 minutes. In the clear. Perfect timing. Found a t-shirt. Bought a couple snack items. Organic sour worms with vitamin C. Dried Fuji apple chips with caramel flavor. Devoured both packages down before stopping off at Da Choppa for a few things. Back to the house to relax for a bit in front of the tv. Kimber made herself a half of a "grilled" cheese in the toaster oven. More like warmed bread with partially melted cheese. I ate my classic Ritz crackers and nutella.

Out the door for a run at 5:30pm. 9.2 miles (75:57) with Kimber. Popped inside to poop real quick. Back outside for a couple loops around the complex by myself. I thought it was 1 mile around. It ended up being a 1.1 mile loop. First loop in 6:09 and the second loop in 5:42. 11:51 for a pace of 5:23. Basically ran it for S's and G's.

Inside to stretch and shower up before courting Kimber out to dinner at Ravenwood's at 8pm. 5 pink lemonades later and some super spicy chicken and rice special, we retreated back to the apartment to crash for the night.

Kimber's Here

April 27th: 5am wakeup. Breakfast was a bowl of cereal. Lunch already pretty much made. Leftovers from the night before. The only day my lunch did not consist of peanut butter and jelly. Brought Ritz crackers and a jar of Nutella. White chocolate macadamia nut Clif bar. Work 6am-2:45pm. Home to an apartment ro myself. Goupil headed home for a bachelor party.

My post work activities consisted of a whole bunch of cleaning. Dishes. Mopping the kitchen and bathroom floor. Scrubbing the shower. Tidying up here and there before the arrival of Kimber. I called at 5:30ish and she was just getting on the road. I was able to get in 7 miles (52:00) at 6pm. Back to stretch and some more cleaning. Showered and greeted Kimber at the door in a towel because I had just gotten out of the shower.

Grocery store run for dinner and breakfast for the weekend. Chicken over pasta with fresh tomato, avocado, and mozzarella slices on top. Cuddled on the couch and bed on the air mattress since my bed is currently (and has been for 4 months) a futon with an egg crate.

Which one is mine?

All Sorts of Smells

April 26th: 5:15am wakeup (well 5:00 the alarm went off, but out of bed at 5:15). Double decker PB&J&N (Peanut butter, jelly and nutella). The rest of the yogurt. Almonds. Two bananas. Chocolate brownie Clif bar. Work 6am-2:45pm. Productive day in the sense that many people were educated on safety today. Safety violations left and right. Some major things and minor things. All in all, the day zoomed by me.

Back to the apartment to just lounge. Dozed off in bed from 4-5ish. Out the door at 5:30 for a recovery run. Ran to the Kinns Road trails. A couple laps on the soft terrain. Back a different route to make it just short of 12 miles (83:26). A variety of scents entered into my nostrils. Chicken soup or Ramen noodles. Mary-j-wanna. Rotten leaves. Burgers. Skunk. It was interesting to say the least.

Back by 7pm. Stretch and foam roll. Started making dinner soon after. Sautéed vegetables (avovado, onion, mushroom and broccoli). Chicken. Pasta. Enough for leftovers for lunch tomorrow. New Big Bang Theory. Hilarous. Iced the calves. Shower and bed at a decent hour.

No Watch Workout

April 25th: 4:30am wakeup. Out the door for a 3 mile shakeout run by 4:40am. Back a little after 5. No time for the run beacuse it was unneccesary. Back to stretch, make my lunch (3rd day in a row that I prepared a PB&J sandwich), Frosted Flakes for breakfast, and out the door by 5:40am. Oh, and a rinser in the shower somewhere in that routine.

Work 6:00-3:00pm. Tool turn-ons were rescheduled for today. Much smoother. Two could not be turned-on so they needed to be locked out tagged out (LOTO). Big meeting at the end of the day with safety reps and other big wigs. Home to relax. Dropped off my application for the apartment. Walmart for Gatorade and an assortment of bars (Balance bars and two kinds of Clif bars). Back to wash some dishes and get ready for my workout. Goupil was meeting me there after he got out of work.

Chen High School at 5:15pm. Warmup 3 miles (22:25). Met Goupil in the parking lot. Jogged into the school to find a bathroom. One of the teachers unlocked the faculty bathroom to let me use it. I was not mistaken for a student. Sweet and clean bathroom! Double whammy! Ca-chang! Out to the track to switch into flats. Strides and stretching.

Goal workout was 1xmile, 4x800, 4x400. All half rest and alternating between the 800's and 400's. A bit windy out and legs a little off. Solid workout though. No watch (Pete Thomas thing). Run on feeling. Goupil was taking my splits and I couldn't look at em until the workout was over. Splits: 4:45, 2:27, 71, 2:23, 71, 2:21, 70, 2:20, 63. Tough and definitely tired at the end. Rest was honest and kept under 7 minute for most of it. 33 minutes for the 6 mile workout. 5:30 pace. Goupil let me know that I have the endurance, but the speed isn't quite there. Changing gears in the 400's was difficult from what he observed. It was the first day that I truly felt like Goupil was my coach. It was cool and helpful. I can see where coaching yourself can be complicated at certain points. 2.5+ mile cooldown (20:57). Slow because the calves were sore. 14.5 on the day.

Back to the apartment by 7ish. Protein shake and television. Attempted to attack my taxes (these are ones I have to pay quarterly because I am a contractor). Headaches and more headaches. Ending up calling a co-worker's mom because she works for the IRS. Helped a ton and will be filing them this weekend. Dinner after 9pm. Quick burger with the sautéed veggies from the night before. Bed just after 10pm.

Chaotic Day

April 24th: 5am wakeup. Out of bed at 5:15am. Bowl of Frosted Flakes for breakfast. Mmm. Double decker PB&J and yogurt for lunch. Work 6am-2:30am. Day went by fast. A couple co-workers either called in sick or coming in later. Short handed for the morning hours so my tool turn-ons were passed on to somebody else. They went terrible so I felt bad. Rest of work was fine. Home before 3pm. Sat around relaxing. Tried figuring out my taxes. Failure. Ritz and nutella for a snack before being heading out the door.

Out for a run at 4:35pm. 7+ miles (54:23). Kinda tired. Legs a bit junky. Made it through the run and back to foam roll quickly before checking out another apartment at 6pm.

Arrived at our supposed appointment. No dice. The rent sign was taken down and the place was already being rented. Whoops! Some miscommunication along the way. No big deal. Goupil and I are taking a 2 bedroom apartment in our current complex.

Back to the apartment to sit in front of the boobtube and ice up the legs. Dinner eventually. Sautéed up some red pepper, onions, mushrooms and tomato. Chicken marinated in hot sauce, chili powder, and cayenne powder. Threw it all in a tortilla with mozzarella and cheddar cheese topped with mango salsa. Destroyed it. Back on the couch. Shower before bed at a decent hour. Workout tomorrow afternoon. Morning run possibly depending on how I feel at 4:30am

Solo Run

April 23rd: 5:00am wakeup. Snoozed until 5:20am. Tough to get out of bed this morning with the weekend full of activities. Oatmeal for breakfast and a single decker PB&J for lunch. Work 6am-2:30pm. Day went by quicker than I thought.

Da Choppa for major grocery shopping because I had a pathetic lunch today. When I have oatmeal for breakfast, it means I don't have any cereal left. I like my cereal in the mornings. Frosted Flakes were on sale for $2 a box. I bought 3 boxes. Some meat, veggies, and yogurt. Filled up the tank with my 30 cents off. Ca-chang! $3.73 a gallon. Home to drop off the groceries. Back out to the library to print out tax return things (yeah I know I am little late, but I was dealing with my car last week). I needed to obtain a library card. I filled out the necessary paperwork and stepped up to the counter. The lady was a little rude, but I was able to get temporary access with the card. That was due to the lack of proof that I live in NY. Whatever. I got computer access and printed out the document. I ate a half of bag of Teenee Beanee jelly beans while I was doing the whole process. They are sooo good.

Back to the apartment around 5:15ish. Run at 5:50pm. 9.5 miles (65:12). Last 4 miles in 26:00. Breezy out, but a nice solo run. Back to stretch, foam roll, wash some dishes, ice and protein shake. Chicken on salad for dinner. Bed early.

Recovery Day

April 22nd: 7:15 wakeup on a couch. Thirsty and ready to go back to Clifton Park. Goupil and I had to walk back to our car that was parked in downtown Saratoga. Brisk out. Made it back to the apartment by 8am. Immediately parked ourselves on the couch. Cooked up some oatmeal. Planned on napping, but instead watcthed Stomp The Yard and and The Day The Earth Stood Still (I didn't remember all of them so I researched tv listings from yesterday to be 100% accurate). This took us to noonish. Checked the weather and saw rain at 2pm. Changed up for a run.

Out the door around 12:30pm. 14 miles (1:33:30). Felt good and made up the loop as I ran. I had to stop at 18 minutes by a swampy marsh area to do my busines. Almost didn't make it. A plus was the soggy old grass made for some prime toilet paper. Back to stretch and jump in the shower to wash off any residue from my bathroom break. Goupil had received a call about a 2 bedroom in our complex. We checked it out after my run at 3pm. Sweet place. Recently redone kitchen and 1.5 baths. Heat included. Not a far move either. Goupil mentioned he needed to hit up the grocery store.

We plopped ourselves on the couch after checking out the apartment. Nap for 2 hours instead. No grocery store and another movie (Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanomo Bay) that we dozed in and out of during the nap.

Wakeup at 5:45ish to finish the movie and watch another one (Year One) at 6pm. Sweet potato quesidilla for dinner with mango salsa was prepared during this movie. Once this was over, The Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer was on at 8pm. Watched that until 10pm. Bed soon after.

Very productive day with movie watching and finishing off at 76 mile week with a big workout and a road 5k PR. Monday is back to work. Eww.

Unexpected 5K

April 21st: 6:30am wakeup. Laid in bed for a bit. Eventually up to change into running clothes. Rocked my "RUN FAST" shirt to promote my buddy's business Beeze Tees. Bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats for breakfast. Out the door at 7:20am. Stopped off at Da Choppa to grab some Gatorade. Up to Saratoga to drive Goupil for a 10K/5K double attempt as a workout day. I planned on just running between the two events because the 10K was at 9am and the 5K was at 11am.

At the race venue (Saratoga Performing Arts Center, SPAC) by 7:50am. Found the registration pavilion after walking through some of the trails. Goupil hit the bathrooms before registration. This meant I waited at the playground. Down the slide about 20 times. Registered and back to the car to drop off the sweats and warm up with Goupil 2+ miles (15:34). Finished at the car to let Goupil change into his racers and throw on his number. We headed over the start. I watched the start and stayed on the same road because the 3 mile mark was down the road a little ways. Goupil was through 3 and I asked him how he felt. Not so good. Soon after he dropped due to the throbbing pain in his foot. The 1/2 mile walk back to the car, Goupil convinced me to tempo the 5k in his place. Cool with me. Goupil changed up and I threw on half tights for the warmup. Over to the finish line to try to find ice and wait to warmup.

Decided on a 4 mile warmup (28:15). Followed some of the RPI cross country course to avoid getting lost. Back to the car by 10:40am to remove the shirt, pin the number on, and NOT put on the racers (I wasn't planning on racing). Kept the Kinvara 2's on. Over to the start line. Too early. Cruised right past it to the finish line to find Goupil. Back to the starting line with Goupil's friend, Sean. A mix between Sam Wood and Peter Najem. It was awesome. Real chill. A stride or two before the start.

Race off at 11am. Out to the front and no looking back. I didn't ask my coach (Goupil) on what the pace should be so I went with relaxed and smooth. 5:00 1st mile. Nobody with me. 5:10 2nd mile. 5:02 3rd mile. Finished up in 15:44. I wore a watch so it took off the edge of the race. Felt more like a 3 mile TT. Cooled down almost immediately. 2 mile (14+). 11 on the day. Lots of compliments on my "RUN FAST" shirt.

Awards took forever so I ate a bunch of cookies and eventually received a medal. Back to the apartment by 1:30 or so. Relaxed and watched some television. Bowl of Go Lean Crunch with a chopped up banana and a protein shake. Didn't feel like making any food. On and off napping from 5pm to 7:45pm. Up to make a delicious burger with cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Onions and mushrooms. Freshly cut tomato slices. Chowed it down.

Out to Saratoga for the night by 9pm. Stayed at one bar the whole night because it was raining out. Fun time. Pizza late night and crashed on my buddy's coach for the night.

Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta

April 20th: 5am wakeup. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. Packed the lunch. Leftovers from last night. Finished off the yogurt. Just brought the rest of the container. Banana and pear for fruit. Work 6am-2:30pm. Slow day so it dragged on a bit. A slow day is never bad in the world of safety. Felt good to finally be Friday and have nothing planned for the weekend.

Stopped off at TD Bank to deposit a check.Home to relax. Noticed my package was dropped off at the office. Napped in front of the TV for a while. Woke up at 4pm in a daze. Goupil home at 4:30pm with my new bluetooth keyboard for my iPad. Ca-ching! Baller! Played with my new toy until we had to go to a 5:30 appointment for an apartment. On the same road as the previous apartment, but much nicer. Cheap and a solid apartment.

Back to the apartment by 6pm. Out for a run before 7pm. Easy 9 miles (62:39). Felt good. Warm out and breezy. Not a cool breeze though, which was nice.

Back to foam roll and stretch. Made nachos with grilled onions, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and mango salsa. A side of protein shake. Watched some TV and skyped with Kimber for a while. Bed by 11pm, but its Friday. No big deal.

Oh, and I updated this blog post with my new keyboard. Sweet! It's almost like having a computer.

Change of Pace

April 19th: 5:35am wakeup. Plan was to pick up the car today. Renaldo let me know it will be done at some point today. Bowl of Go Lean Crisp (cranberries and blueberries) with chopped up banana in it. Glass of orange juice with a multivitamin and a naproxen sodium (store brand Aleve). Work 7am-3:30pm. Honest day's work as always. We had an aisle way audit to check the aisle way congestion, overhead congestion, lift zones properly marked, valves are guarded, etc. Surprised my neck wasn't too sore by the end of the day. This took up most of the day. Spoke with my HAC (Hookup Area Coordinator) about upcoming tools and the proper procedure that goes along with it. Double decker PB&J for lunch. Stonyfield French vanilla yogurt with an assortment of snacks to eat with it. Nature Valley bar, banana, and mini Lindt chocolate chicks from the Easter basket. Grabbed a Oreo banana smoothie from the new cafeteria downstairs. Organized my paperwork for tools at the end of the day.

Goupil and I left to drive back down to the hood of Schenectady to pick up my ride. I made a call to make sure it was done. All set. Picked it up around 4:15pm. Lots of money forked over, but worth to be able to travel to work everyday. Power steering fixed so I am happy. It was the rack and pinion mechanism that was shot.

Back to the apartment by 4:50ish. No run with Derrick. No rushing out the door. Called Kimber to talk with her a bit about my day. Out for a run by 6pm. 10+ miles (74:29) through the Kinns Road trails. Relaxing run and legs were not too sore. More sore by the end of the run, but thought it would be worse.  Might get the 2 day soreness tomorrow. We will see tomorrow morning.

Foam roll, stretch, and a protein shake. Prepared my chicken for dinner. Showered. Out to cook up the chicken, pasta and veggies (yellow squash and onions). Dinner with an extra cold glass of chocolate milk (bought some special dark chocolate Hershey's chocolate syrup). I made it while my food was being cooked and placed it in the freezer to make it that extra cold. Mmm. No new Big Bang Theory until next week. My bluetooth keyboard for my iPad was shipped by UPS, but at 6:27pm. I was on a run and it required my signature. Damn. I will have to wait until tomorrow. Iced after dinner while watching TV. Bed by 10pm. Tomorrow is Friday! Woohoo!

Workout At Chen High School

April 18th: 4:45am wakeup. Goupil let me know at 4:55am that Renee's kid is throwing up so she won't be running with us. I asked Goupil if he was running. A definite no. I had to poop so I got up to use the bathroom. I slept in my running shorts and I was already up. Threw on some layers. Hat and gloves. Out the door at 5:10am for a 3 mile shakeout. No time mostly because I forgot to wear my watch. Back to stretch and shower. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. Goupil up soon after. Made my lunch. Basically tossed my tupperware of chicken, salad, and tomato (all separate) into my lunchbox. Off to work at 6:35ish. Goupil drove me to work due to a lack of transportation.

Work 7am-3:30am. Work was different due to a PCW (processed chilled water) piping from a tool in the fab bursting and pouring hundreds of gallons of liquid through the ceiling into the subfab. It began to rain down in the subfab from a couple different sections. Our supervisor had the Colden Safety Team head up to the Fab to help/direct with the cleanup. It was a bit of a confusion/complications, but eventually we obtained multiple wet vacs to suck up the water underneath the raised metal floors. 3+ hours of cleanup in the cleanroom suits. I was sweating like a pig. Lunch at 1:30pm. Super late in the day, but there was free pizza along with my salad with chicken. Stuffed my face. I got the call from the mechanic and the damage was a bit overwhelming. A couple things needed to be done (not all essential to have me drive the car carefree). I called my dad to review with him and he thought to just fix the power steering. It was the most crucial. Called back Renaldo and he said he would take care of it. Good guy and super nice.

Back to the apartment by 4pm. Relaxed. Got ready for the big workout at 5pm at Chen High School with Goupil and Derrick. Goupil had a different workout for himself because he's working on his speed while I am working on more endurance workouts. Some Ritz crackers and Nutella, a chocolate agave fuel packet and off to the track.

No rush to warmup. 3+ mile warmup (23:04). On to the track. Lacrosse practice was in session, but it wasn't going to interfere with us. Switched into flats. Shorts and a t-shirt. Beautiful out. Perfect weather. Some strides. Body feeling good.

Planned workout was 4x200 (200 rest) 3x400 (200 rest) 1x800 (400 rest) 1x1600 (800 rest) 1x800 (400 rest) 3x400 (200 rest) 4x200 (200 rest) 11,600 (7.25 miles) meters total for the workout. 34, 35, 34, 33, 70, 70, 69, 2:24, 4:51, 2:21, 68, 67, 66, 33, 31, 30, 30. Almost all the rest kept at 7:00 pace or under except for the 200s. Felt amazing. Very smooth and ran extremely even for the intervals. Total time 40:38. 5:36 pace. 3+ mile cooldown (24:03). Derrick was a riot the whole time. Always entertaining when you're around him. Always something unexpected. 16++ miles on the day total. Next goal race is the Rotary 12k in Bedford, NH.

Back to the apartment by 7:30pm. Stretch, foam roll, protein shake, and a quick shower. Whipped up a tortilla hamburger with cheese and tomato. Ate it right before 9pm. Bed before 10pm. Full day, but very productive. Gonna sleep well.

The Hood Of Schenectady

April 17th: 5am wakeup. Tough to get out of bed this morning. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. PB&J sandwich for lunch. Right before I was leaving, I put my contacts in. One got lodged In the back of my eye socket. It's happened before, but never an easy task to remove. 5 minutes late to work, but no biggie. Work 6am-2:45pm. Unfortunately, I was dropping my car off at the auto shop and my ride back to my apartment was still working. It was all good.

Left work at 3:30pm and brought my car to Schenectady. It was an eye opener. I drove down State Street and it progressively got worse as I got closer to the auto shop. Though, it actually went smoother than I thought. Talked with the guy and I explained to him my problems. I was able to show him the line of power steering fluid leaking from my car since I turned left into the parking lot (that's when my car leaks). Handed over the keys and left my contact info. Out of there by 4:40pm and to the apartment by 5ish to run at 5:15 with Goupil and Derrick.

Easy run. 9 miles (62:13). Solid clip. Cruised the last couple miles. Windy and some hilarious conversation with Derrick. As always. Big day tomorrow so kept it shorter today. Back to foam roll and ice. Made a big salad with chicken, tomato, red pepper, carrot, cheddar cheese, and grilled onions. Thousand islands and ranch dressing. Mmm. Split it into two to have a portion for lunch tomorrow. Showered right before dinner and Big Bang Theory post dinner. Chilled. Bed early for a 5am run with Goupil and Renee (Goupil's mom friend).

Hot And Humid

April 16th: 5am wakeup. Bathroom immediately. Made the bold decision to make my lunch and breakfast simultaneously this morning. All 4 burners. Oatmeal, chicken, mushrooms and pasta. All done at the same time. Superb timing on my part. Changed up. Threw the lunch together. Black licorice. Mini Cadbury eggs. Clif bar. Banana. I was pretty excited. Work 6am-2:30pm. Lunch was amazing. Out of work to super hot weather. Sweated the whole way home (mostly due to the lack of AC in my car).

Back to the apartment to cool off. Goupil home by 4:45pm. Decided to run easy later in the evening. Sat there on the couch until we went to Da Choppa for groceries. 75 bucks later, we were back to head out for a run by 7pm. 7 easy (50:14). Out and back. Stopped halfway to stretch.

Everything gradually got more sore today. The part of my body that was most sore was my jammed thumb. Next was my back, hips, and shoulder blades. Returned from the run to foam roll, make a tortilla burger with onions and fresh tomato (delicious), and ice the calves. Watched some tv. Showered. Bed by 10:15pm. I know. Late. That's what happens when I run later in the day. Everything is pushed back. Oh well. Another day down.

Delmar Dash Race Report

April 15th: 6am wakeup on the dot. Waited in bed until I really had to use the bathroom to empty myself out completely. Up to make a bowl of oatmeal and get changed up. Gathered everything up for the race. I was ready for pretty much any kind of weather. Out the door at 7:15am to travel to Delmar, NY. 30 minute drive with no problems. Front row parking.

Dropped our stuff off at the tent and picked up our numbers inside Bethlehem middle school. Snagged free race shirts with our connection. Back to the team tent to relax. Bathroom once again before warming up with some team members at 8:20ish. 2.5 miles (19:08) through the backfields and last mile of the course. Shedded a few layers and switched into racing gear. Warm out so I went with the shorts, singlet and calf sleeves. Mayflies for racers. A Powerbar gel for some energy. To the line for some strides at 8:50ish. Gun off just after 9am.

Off in a sprint as usual. Video is posted on youtube and pictures are below of some of the race. 4:55 first mile. Together with my teammate, Kevin Treadway, at 2 miles in 10:00. No course record today because it was too humid and not enough competition. Kevin started to fade right before 3. 15:06 for me and 15:09 for Kevin. 20:17 through 4 miles with no one in sight behind me. Poured water on my head at 4ish miles. Made sure it wasn't Gatorade. Pushed in for the win in 25:21 (results say that), but the video has 25:19-25:20. I don't really care. Cooldown of 3 miles (24:28). 10.5 of running on the day. Planned shakeout in the evening, but that changed.

To a teammate's house literally down the road for a couple hours. Food and a brewski. Left around 1:15pm to head back to Clifton Park for some pickup basketball with co-workers at 2pm. Dozed off in the car. Crushed some mini Cadbury eggs for some fuel once we were in the door and off for 3+ hours of basketball. Half court, full court, and 21. Jammed my thumb by not catching the first pass that was thrown to me. Ouchies! Other than that, tons of fun. Got my shot back a little bit by the end. Still terrible at the actual game of basketball. No shakeout necessary.

Back to the apartment to ice everything and eventually make a huge 4 egg omelette with onions and mushrooms. Melted cheddar cheese and ketchup. Watched some tv and bed at a decent hour. Gonna be sore for Monday.

67 miles for the week with a solid workout, a win in the Grand Prix series, and a cross training afternoon of basketball. Oh, and the trophy was baller!

The start of the race. Bat out of hell.
Middle. By myself.
Finish.
Trophy. Aww Yeah!

Day Full Of Cleaning

April 14th: 6:45am wakeup. Ah! It feels good to sleep in. 8+ hours of sleep. Rolled around in bed for 15 minutes or so. Transferred to the couch for an hour or so. Bowl of cereal for breakfast with a banana on the side at 8ish. Washed some dishes before heading out the Delmar for a course preview with a couple of guys on the team.

Met at 10am in the Bethlehem Middle School parking lot for the 5 mile course run through. Four of us ran the course. Back for strides and stretching. Course has some quick turns in the first 2 miles, then there are a couple nice long straightaways to allow to get moving. Course record is at 24:33 and that might get broken tomorrow either by teammate (Jeff Treadway) or myself. It's gonna be fun either way.

Back to the apartment to make monster omelettes. 4 egg omelette with onions, peppers and mushrooms chopped with the Slap Chop. Way easier. Way more fun. Scarfed it down with ketchup and cheddar cheese. Sat in front of the television for a bit before being ambitious and doing a serious laundry run to the laundromat. Goupil decided to participate for the first time since I've been here because he had a whole bunch of laundry. We made the trip around 1:15pm. I FaceTimed with Katie and Erin (out in California) and listened to music for the remainder of the time. I think I have the laundromat down to a science. It wasn't too busy either because of the beautiful weather today. Done by 2:45pm.

Back to the apartment to put away all my clothes and watch television. Got hooked on Juwanna Mann the movie. Goupil decided on Chinese food for dinner. I went along for the ride to pick up a few things at Hannaford's (there is no nickname for this store). Broccoli and a balance bar. Back to work up an appetite by sitting back down on the couch. Eventually made pasta with broccoli (seasoned garlic salt) and chicken (seasoned with chicken rub and Italian dressing) topped with shredded cheddar cheese. Mmm! Bed early for the Delmar Dash 5 miler tomorrow morning.

Friday The 13th

April 13th: 5am wakeup. Bowl of Go Lean Crisp. Multivitamin with the remaining milk. Packed my lunch. Super easy this morning because I just had to throw eveything into my lunchbox. Tossed in what was left of my Lindt chocolate bunny. Left the house before 5:35am. Work by 5:50am. Started making the checklists for the 3 tool turn-on's Alyssa and I had today. Work 6-2:30pm. Unfortunately, we were short-handed for various reasons today so one of our co-workers covered our tools so we could stay on the subfab floor. Easy day and nothing crazy happened today. Some good conversation with the contractors.

Home by 3pm. Took a short nap before being woken up by Kimber's phone call :) Goupil home by 4:30pm. Run with Derrick at 4:45pm. Today we were picked up right at our apartment instead of picking him up a mile down the road. Normal loop. Added on another 2+ miles after Goupil just headed right back. 10 miles (70:24) on the day.

Saw Neil (next door neighbor that runs) and chatted with him for a bit. Inside to foam roll, stretched, iced up the calves (mostly precautionary), protein shake and talk with my dad about my tax return. Sat on the couch and started watching Wanted. Eventually made dinner. Grilled cheese and a bowl of cereal. Bed whenever.

Slap Chop!

April 12th: 5am wakeup. Bowl of cereal for break-fast. Purple shirt day. Work 6am-2:30pm. Rocked the calve sleeves all day. Solid day overall. Learned some useful things today in safety when we did the big group walk with some of the major safety reps and the M+W reps. Home to just relax for a while. Made a couple calls and sent a few emails for apartments. Goupil home around 5ish. Continued our search until finally scooting out the door for a run at 5:45pm. Marinated my chicken in hot sauce, chili powder, Italian dressing, and some chicken rub right before heading out.

Goupil planned on running for 45-50 minutes. We planned on running to the Kinns Road Trails, which is just short of 4 miles away. I dragged him up for a few loops in the trails to make it 10+ miles (71:56) with the last mile in 6:30. We didn't pick it up too much at the end so I knew it was atleast 10.

Back to stretch and foam roll. Iced up the calves. Eventually prepared my dinner right before the supposedly new Big Bang Theory episode. No new episode. Prepared dinner. Sautéed up some avocado, green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The best part was I used my new Slap Chop (aka food chopper from Homegoods) that I recieved in my Easter basket. Worked like a charm. Boiled up some angel hair pasta. Made enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Ate just before 9. Bed by 10pm. Feel asleep while talking to Kimber. It ended up being a short conversation.

Free Dinner Is The Best

April 11th: 5am wakeup. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. Work 6-2:30pm. Quick day at work. Home to drop off my bag and grab some food before checking out an apartment with Goupil and Harrison (co-worker). It's in Clifton Park, but on a semi main road. We were shown the apartment. The lady was painting the bedrooms. It was alright except one of the rooms had the laundry room attached to it. That doesn't really work with the nighttime laundry we do sometimes. It felt pretty small for having nothing in it. So we were polite, but not on the top of the list. The search will definitely continue.

Back to our apartment to change up and drive down to Albany for the workout with the team. Left early this time to get down there by 5:30ish. 10 minute warmup before the team warmup at 5:50pm. Anthor 10+ minutes with strides to call it a 3 mile warmup. A couple different workouts posted. I decided on the 3x1000 (400 rest), 2x800 (200 rest) and 2x600 (200 rest). Depending on how I was feeling at the end, 2x200 (200 rest) to sprint when I'm fatigued. The times went like this: 3:02, 3:01, 2:59, 2:25, 2:23, 1:46, 1:43, 30, 30. Rest between the 1000s were keep at 6:40 pace. Relaxed more between the 800s at 7:30s. Between the 200s was a trot. Finished up the total distance of the workout 8600 meters in 29:28. Pace overall: 5:31 pace. The goal of the workout was to start at 5k goal pace and get down to 3k pace or so. Worked out well and felt wayyyy better than last week. Feeling quick for the 5 miler this weekend in Delmar, NY. 2.5 mile (19:08) cooldown to make it just short of 11 on the day.

Over to Josh's house for a team meeting. Pizza and garlic bread. Future races discussed. Always a good time with the team. Reimbursement check for my USATF membership and my race entry fee from New Bedford. Saweet! Home by 9:30ish. Foam rolled. Showered. Iced while talking to Kimber. Bed by 10pm.

OT Baby!

April 10th: 5am wakeup. Bathroom. Breakfast. Bowl of Honey of Bunches of Oats with fresh milk. Got dressed and out the door at 5:40am. Work 6am-3:15pm. Normal day full of safety. One serious safety violation in the morning and anothe one in the afternoon at 2:05pm. The afternoon was a non-active leak from a HF (hyrdrofloruic acid) drain. Look it up. In the words of Kanye West, "That shit cray!" Spent the next 45 minutes or so sorting things out. Things were squared away. Out of work and stopped off at Da Choppa. No wallet. Home to relax by 4pm. Ate a short roll of Ritz crackers with Nutella. I made sandwiches. Goupil home around 4:30pm.

Out for a run at 5ish. Just shy of 10 miles (65:24) plus 4x80ish meter strides to make it 10+ on the day. Normal loop with Derrick. Good run, but a little windy at times.

Back to foam roll, stretch, pushups, situps, and some lifting. Iced up and hit up Da Choppa with Goupil. Strolled in the store with my LL Bean slippers. Picked up some lunch and dinner items. Showered up when I got back, then made a huge 4 egg omelette with avocado, onions, and mushrooms. Sooooo good! I haven't bought eggs in a while so it was just the ticket. Big Bang Theory and bed early.

Back To The Grind

April 9th: 4:45am. Snoozed. Super tired this morning. Tough to get out of bed. Out of bed at 5am. Bathroom. Breakfast was a bit iffy. Had some milk from last week. It was a little swirly, but I used it anyways for my cereal. Tasted fine. Showered because I hadn't shaved since Thursday. Packed the lunch and out the door at 5:40am. Work 6am-3:00pm. Easy day. Lots of layoffs from last week so kinda empty in the subfab. Rocked my contacts today so I didn't need to throw on the oversized safety glasses.

Stopped off at Target and grabbed some groceries. Home at 3:45pm to relax. Goupil home at 4:30pm. Showed him the new songs from the weekend. Mercy and Theraflu. Look em up. So boss! Club bangers! We were supposed to run Justin and Derrick. Both bailed. It's all good. Unpacked my weekend bag because we were in no rush to get out.

Out at 5:15ish. 9.5+ miles total (68:08). 9 plus some strides in the parking lot. Solid pace and we found a bathroom that will be open 3 of the seasons from 8am-9pm. Ca-ching! Back to stretch and lots of foam rolling since I've been without mine for 2 weeks. It felt good to be on it again. Iced and updated the blog from the weekend (I know, sorry for the delay). Big ole burger with cheese and green peppers mixed in it for dinner cooked in the George Foreman. Showered. Bed before 10pm.

Long Day of Driving

April 8th: 5am wakeup. Snoozed until 5:15am. Bathroom. Felt hungover, but I didn't drink anything the night before. I almost threw up in the sink. I was okay. Out the door for a run at 5:40am. 4.5 mile loop. Tasted gravy and onions for the first couple miles. Stopped back at the house to empty myself out on the toilet. Felt wayyyy better. Out for another 2.5+ miles at a solid clip. Back to pick up Sarah for another 5 miles (40:15). 12+ (1:32:56). Foam rolled and stretched before some of the most delicious French Toast with amazing bread (maple raisin walnut, chocolate chocolate chip, and some multigrain shiznit). Packed up everything before heading to my Aunt Kathy's in Wallingford, CT, at about 10:15am.

Arrived at 12:30pm. Went for a mini hike in the trails behind the house. Relaxed for a bit. Dinner. Lamb and Ham. Double stuffed potoatoes. Corn. Asparagus. Carrots. Rolls. Great to be around a table full of people I don't see a bunch. Updated people with my new job. Cleaned up. Dessert and eventually on the road by 7pm. No traffic whatsoever. I did have to stop at a rest stop to rest. Just sat there in my car and opened up the jelly beans for some sugar intake. Home by 9:40pm. Goupil already fast asleep. Bed by 10pm. Gonna be a rough Monday.

65 miles for the week. Okay week, but I will now be back to 70-80 mile weeks for a while.

Umass Lowell 2 Mile Race Report

April 7th: 7am wakeup. Pooped. 2 mile (15:26) shakeout at 8am. Foam rolled. Threw in some laundry before breakfast. Made some oatmeal with maple syrup and brown sugar around 8:30am. Showered and changed up for the track meet. Kimber drove me to Umass Lowell around 10:30ish.

Made it there around 11:45am. Saw Pete Thomas parking the van. Made the mistake of distracting him while driving by yelling his name to catch his attention. He didn't crash or anything, but he took his eyes off the road in front of him. Found Wilson (old Keene assistant coach/alumni) and Pete Najem. Walked over to the team in the bleachers and was happily greeted by Jared Samuel who I hadn't seen since October of last year. Hung out and conversed with people I hadn't seen in a while. Warmed up for the 2 mile during the steeplechase. 2 miles. Grabbed my racing stuff and onto the infield. Strides and stretching before lacing up the spikes (Goupil's 9.5 Matumbos, fit perfect). Race went off around 2pm, I believe. Dogfight in the first 30 meters and was spiked immediately off the line. Set myself up in the first mile with a 4:34, but got tired so I slowed down. Finished up in 9:25. Atleast I'm not training for a 2 mile race because it didn't feel that great. No worries. Solid time for not training for that distance. 4 mile cooldown total split up into 2 runs (29+). 10 miles on the day.

Back to Leominster by 5pm. Showered up and waited for Bob's (sister Sarah's boyfriend) family to come over for Easter Eve dinner. Delicious and ate too much food. Two solid platefuls. Coconut Chocolate Creme Pie for dessert. Dinner was a hoot and lots of laughs were shared. I will leave it as that. Fell asleep on the couch in a food coma until going to bed at 11pm.

Super Early Morning

April 6th: 4:05am wakeup. No, that is not a typo. Out the door at 4:20am for a morning run. 5 miles out and back through Chen High School. 5+ miles (39:36). I was able to run right down the middle of the road in the pitch black. Back to stretch and shower. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. Work 6am-2:30pm. Slow day because a bunch of contractors took half days due to the holiday weekend.

Back to the apartment to pack up and clean up before heading to Leominster, Mass, to my sister Sarah's house. On the road at 3:30ish. Didn't have any money for the tolls so I had to make a detour to a Bank of America for some cash. It was friggin like 7 miles off the highway. Back on the road and paid the 45 cent toll with a 20 dollar bill. Yeah, I did that. Hit some traffic along route 90. Arrived at Sarah's around 7ish. Kimber arrived at 7:30pm. Dinner had 8:30pm. Marinated chicken with a cold pasta salad. Bed at a decent hour. 2 mile at Umass Lowell the next day.

Much Needed Easy Pace

April 5th: 5:00am wakeup. Out of bed immediately. Didn't bring the iPad into the bathroom because I tend to sit on the toilet too long if I do. Got dressed right away. Made my lunch. Breakfast before 5:20am. Out the door at 5:35. Work at 5:50. A couple tool sign offs throughout the day. Out of work at 2:30pm. Home to relax. Washed some dishes. More surgery on the blisters. Foam rolled. Jumping jacks. Goupil home at 4:30pm.

Running at 5:15pm. 10 miles (73:56). Ran to the Kinns Road trails. Couple loops. Lots of dogs. Back the same way. Felt amazing to hit some soft terrain and keep it easy the whole way. Back to stretch, stick the hell out of my legs, and foam roll.

Threw my pork tenderloin pieces sprinkled with seasoning with a chopped up avocado and onion spread over em into the oven. Chyeah chyeah! FaceTimed with my dad and mom while I iced my legs. Dinner ready before the new Big Bang Theory. Awesome episode. Showered up and bed around 9:30pm.

Not Everyday Can Be A Career Day

April 4th: 5am wakeup. Stayed in bed. Finally got up. Breakfast late. Bowl of cereal. Packed the lunch. Scrambled to get ready. Left the parking lot at 5:45am. Work 6:05-2:50. Still got my 8+ hours in. Quick day. A tool walk down in the afternoon to break up the day. Home to relax for a while. Washed some dishes. Started to do some surgery on my pinky toe blisters. Both feet. Stopped at Target to pick up some things for em. Finished covering them up when I got back. Goupil not home until 5:10pm. Planned on going to Albany for the workout at 5:50pm.

Left to make it to the workout by 5:55pm. Passing showers on the drive there. We walked to the track and a heavy downpour with lots of wind came whipping through. Craziness. Took cover inside and it cleared up within 5 minutes. Warmed up 10 minutes. Some strides and got the workout going. Plan was 6-8 by 1000 with 200 rest. Started out 3:07, 3:07, 3:05, 3:06. These felt smooth. Wind tunnel on the backstretch, but not too much of a push for the times. Calves sore and tired though. 5th one didn't feel good. Went through in 75 and 2:32 so jogged to a 3:15 and called it a day. 2 mile cooldown (15:29). 7+ for the day. Not to exaggerate, but it was the 1st day since I have arrived in New York that I wasn't feeling it for the start. So I can tell I haven't recovered from Saturday's 4.5 miler. Easy next two days and an overall down week with Easter weekend being a traveling one.

IHOP with some teammates for dinner. Stuffed French toast, hash browns, 2 eggs over easy, and sausage links. Good, but not anything special. Fun time though. Home by 9:15pm. Shower and bed.

Slow Day

April 3rd: 5:10am wakeup. Crawled out of bed. Bathroom. Breakfast kinda late at 5:20am. Bowl of cereal. Made the lunch. Deli sandwich, yogurt, banana, Nature Valley bar, and some almonds. Got dressed and out the door at 5:45am. Work 6:05-2:35pm. Slow day. Home to relax and watch television. Ordered another pair of trainers and shorts off runningwarehouse. Goupil home at 5pm. Did some dishes and prepared dinner so I could just shower and eat after the run.

Out the door at 5:45ish. Goupil had to bail at 3.5 or so. Continued the 10.8 (mapped it out again to check some splits and it's actually 11) loop on my own. Stopped at 5 miles for a second to stretch the calves and hips. Finished the run with 5:42 and 5:02 last 2 miles. 71:03 total time. Nice weather out so just rocked shorts, a long sleeve, and a running hat.

Back to stretch and throw my meatloaf in the oven. Ground beef with a chopped up onion, chili powder, crushed up Ritz crackers, salt, and pepper. Goupil threw his casserole in the oven next to mine. We sat down on the couch to watch Big Bang and ice. We eventually started to hear sizzling. I assumed it was his meal. He checked on the oven. He noted I should peek in on my meatloaf. Smoke and oil popping. I took it out and cut it in half. All done! Smoke alarm goes off. Oscillating fan on and kitchen window wide open. All I could do was laugh since this isn't the first time my meal caused this to happen. Ate half the meatloaf with ketchup and continued to watch tv. Showered up and bed before 9pm.

I'm So Tired, I Haven't Slept A Wink

April 2nd: 5:05am wakeup. Pooped. Goupil up to run with a friend at 5:15am. Bowl of cereal for breakfast. Made lunch. Black forest ham and muenster cheese sandwiches. Yogurt. Banana. Nature Valley bar. Work 6am-2:30am. One of my contractor buddies let me know I look tired today. I definitely was. Stopped off at Da Choppa again for cereal and milk. Self checkout to avoid the crazy lines. Home by 3pm. I had intentions of washing dishes and cleaning up a bit, but I instead napped from 3:30-5. Woke up in a daze.

Run at 5:35am with Goupil. Popped a Gu (chocolate agave energy packet) before because I was kinda hungry. 10 miles (69:38). Solid run. Surprised I felt that well. I did stop at 9.5 miles to explode in the woods. I thought I could make it back to the apartment because the feeling would come and go. That's alright. Recovery run.

Stretch, foam roll, protein shake, and iced while I watched Big Bang Theory. Showered eventually and ate a bowl of Go Lean Cinnamon Crisp with maple syrup at 8:45pm. Bed at 10pm. Gotta to get to bed earlier this week. Need the sleep.

Long Run And Mini Blizzard

April 1st: 7:50 wakeup. Pounded some orange soda from the day before (Subway meal I split with Kimber). Pooped. Relaxed. Bagel Works at 9am with Kimber to split a plain bagel with cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese. Sneaked in a coconut water with acai and pomegranate from the race. Drove to campus at 9:30ish to run with the Keene State guys at 10am.

Everyone showed up and we were out for Otterbrook 10 with a couple guys who hadn't run it before. Beautiful out and cruised up Beech Hill and to the dam. Stopped to take in the view and throw a few rocks in the water (threw my arm out with my one throw, but I made the water). Great to catch up with Ryan and others. Continued through the loop and added on Yale 5 with Goupil and Hoyt (high school and college teammate). 15 miles (1:43:23). Back to stretch, ice, shower, and hit up the DC (dining commons) with Kimber. Guest passes used by current students so free food. Bowl of Life cereal, bowl of yogurt, and a couple chocolate chocolate chip muffins. Back to Fowler to say my goodbyes and stopped off at Beeze Tees to check out Tim's new place for his screen printing business. Sweet deal. Chatted for a bit and back to Jaffrey around 3pm to nap before making the trek home to NY.

Left at 6pm to pick up Goupil in Keene and hit up Da Choppa for groceries. Picked up some things for lunch and dinner. Threw it in the cooler and filled up my tank with ease at the Sunoco in Keeene. 20 cents off. Ca-chang! Arrival time on the GPS was 9:40pm when we originally left. Added about 12 minutes to that once we hit the mountains along VT-9 and NY-7 for some serious white out conditions. With the high elevation gain, the rain turned to snow quickly. When Kimber had to stay at a hotel in Bennington during the dead of winter, I understand her a whole lot more now. Maybe 2-3 feet visibility. Maxed out at 30 mph and focused on the white line on the right side of the road to be able to follow the road.

Made it home safely. Downed two Vitamin waters on the ride home so I had to pee like a racehorse for the last 20 minutes of the ride back. Unpacked. Bed by 10:45pm. Guaranteed tough start to the work week with a 74 mile week and a 28 mile weekend. 2 mile at Umass Lowell this Sautrday. Plus staying at my sister's in Massachusetts/my aunt Kathy's house in CT for Easter.

Fast Friends 4.5 Miler Race Report

March 31st: 6:30am wakeup. Snoozed. 6:45am rolled out of bed. Pooped. Changed up into my running attire. Made some oatmeal in the microwave. Some brown sugar, maple syrup and milk to sweeten it up. I always make more than I think I am when I pour it in the bowl. Ate it all anyways. Kimber had a few speed bumps by forgetting to put on earrings (after we had already began our departure in the driveway) and had to pick up a coffee at Dunkin Donuts because she forgot to make coffee at home. I love her anyways :)

Arrived at the race venue (Market Basket dirt parking lot) at 8:05am. Strolled over to the Fast Friends building across the street. First person I saw was Hammet. Threw on the full tights and warmed up at 8:20ish with some other guys. Kimber (being the best girlfriend) picked up my number while I warmed up. 3 miles (22:54). The first 1.5 miles of the race course and back. Back to use the port-o-johns. No lines. Switched into racing gear. Chilly out so I decided on calf sleeves (still feeling the mile repeats from Wednesday), arm warmers (new Smartwool arm warmers), half tights, and thin gloves. Ready to roll. Strides and stretching before a 9:15am start. Relaxed start with a ready, set, go by Andy McCarron.

Bulleted to the front and through the first mile sub 5 (flat). 1/2 mile up roughly and 1/2 mile down on Ash Hill Road (10:08). Kept cruising with no challenge from others through 3 miles (15:15). Matthews Road past Pete Thomas's house and Yale 5. 4 miles (20:20). Pushed the last 1/2 mile through the neighborhood and back to Fast Friends parking lot in 22:50 for the win. Perfect dressed and the arm warmers worked like a charm. 5 mile total cooldown between jogging back to see Kimber finish in 34:56 and through Yale Forest with a bunch of the guys (37:47). New trails that were friggin sweet. 13 miles total (mapped out course later and it ended up being 4.57ish, which puts me at sub 5s per mile). Back to receive a prize of a 1/2 gallon of pure New Hampshire maple syrup. Yesss! I was running out. Chilled for bit post ceremony. Saw Tim selling t-shirts. Bought a "Will Run For Beer" t-shirt.

Out to lunch with Kimber at Elm City Brewery at 11:30ish. We were there before it opened so we stopped in at the Toadstool Bookstore to kill some time. We split at the entrance to look at different sections. I was too hungry to look at any books so I retreated back to Kimber. Walked up to her and started telling a story. She looked up at me. Not Kimber. Oops! Pretty embarrassing, but shrugged it off. Walked over to the Brewery and was immediately seated. Salsa and chips for an appetizer. Kimber and I both were craving burgers. I went big with a peachy BBQ and bacon cheeseburger. Medium Rare. Steak fries. Devoured it. Peachy Keene beer for a beverage. Mmm. Talked for  a while on our little date.

TJ Maxx and picked up a golf polo/Puma socks. Stopped off at Andy's for food (Homemade chili by Jen Hammet and homemade Buckeyes by Mary), brewskis, good company, some ridiculous laughs, and live music (amateur hour is always super entertaining). Hung out for a few hours. Back to Jaffrey for serious relaxation before the bars in Keene. McCues in Keene. Watched old people dance. A few Budlights. Ramunto's for a slice of pepperoni pizza. Crashed on the futon at Fowler. Bed by 12am. Run in the morning with the Keene State runners.
